Description
Gladys is a little brown tank of a dog who joined our family as a foster a year ago. We think Gladys is about 3 years old but had not been taught any manners. She is housebroken and has never had an accident in the house. We are working to crate train her and while she takes all her meals in it, it isn’t her happy place. She’s not the quickest learner, but she now sits and lays downs on command and responds to verbal commands when it suits her. We are still working on keeping her out of the kitchen during meal prep since she has a tendency to stand around like a brown immoveable block.
She is remarkably chill in the house and spends her days alternating between napping on the couch and napping in the sun out back. She doesn’t think her size disqualifies her from being a lap dog and within the first few hours of knowing you will happily snuggle with you. While sweet and docile inside, she initially struggled on walks as she was highly reactive to other animals. We’re pleased to say that after a year working with OLAR’s trainer she is much less reactive and now can walk past other animals with no barking and minimal tugging. We are optimistic that she could learn to be friends with another dog provided that it is calmer than her and helps her learn appropriate doggie social skills. She is prejudiced and will never like cats but we all can’t be perfect.
